Purpose of our policy

Stiletto Homes values and respects the privacy of the people we deal with. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the relevant privacy laws and regulations.


We have adopted the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act). The APPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your Personal Information. This Privacy Policy (Policy) describes how we collect, store, use and disclose your personal information, our ongoing obligations to you and how we maintain your Personal Information.


What is Personal Information?

Stiletto Homes collects personal information as defined by the Privacy Act. Personal information means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether the information is true or not and whether the information or opinion is recorded in a material form or not. An example of personal information is your name and address.


Purposes for which we collect and deal with your Personal Information

We collect your Personal Information for the primary purpose of providing our services to you, providing information to our clients and marketing. We need to deal with your personal information to allow us to run our business and perform essential functions.


Generally, we only use privacy information for the primary purpose for which we collect the information, or a secondary purpose related to the primary purpose for which you would reasonably expect us to use the collected information. The primary purpose of the collection is partly determined by the context in which the information is collected.


The list of potential primary purposes for which we collect and deal with your privacy

What Personal information do we collect?

The kinds of privacy information we collect include:

  • Contact Details: We may collect information such as your name, address, telephone number, facsimile number, credit card details and/or email address.
  • Unsolicited Personal Information you send us: We may collect any personal correspondence that you send us, or that is sent to us by others about your activities.
  • De-identified information: Stiletto Homes may also collect de-identified information through your use of the website, including the dates and times you access the website, the domains from where you visited the website, your activity on the website and internet protocol addresses. This information is referred to as “Stiletto Homes may use click stream data to analyse trends and statistics to improve the website”. Stiletto Homes may collect the click stream data through the use of cookies. A “cookie” is a text file sent by the website to your browser and stored on your device. It identifies your device, but not you. You may set your browser to not accept cookies, but some parts of the website may not function properly or at all if cookies are disabled. We also use cookies for remarketing to advertise online. Some pages and emails created by the website may also contain a “web beacon.” This is a clear-pixel image that generates a de-identified notice of your visit to be sent to Stiletto Homes. Stiletto Homes may need to collect sensitive information about you. Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include information or opinion about such things as an individual's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, criminal record or health information.


If we collect your sensitive information, we will do so only with your consent, if it is necessary to prevent a serious and imminent threat to life or health, or as otherwise required or authorised by law, and we take appropriate measures to protect the security of this information.


You do not have to provide us with your personal information. Where possible, we will give you the option to interact with us anonymously or by using a pseudonym. However, if you choose to deal with us in this way or choose not to provide us with you personal information, we may not be able to provide you with our services or otherwise interact with you.


Examples of where it is impractical to allow you to remain anonymous include entering into contracts with Stiletto Homes and making payments by credit card, EFTPOS or bank transfers.


How we collect Personal Information

Stiletto Homes will only collect personal information by lawful and fair means. Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. Stiletto Homes does not adopt or use any identifiers of any Australian government body or agency assigned to any individual as its own identifier.


The consequences of not providing us with personal information

If you choose not to provide us with personal information, our ability to perform some essential business functions, such as quoting and constructing your home, might be compromised. Not providing us with personal information could mean we are unable to fulfill one of the above purposes for which we collect personal information.


Marketing and Market Research

We may send you direct marketing communications about our services, opportunities, or events that we consider may be of interest to you if you have requested or consented to receive such communications. These communications may be sent in various forms, including mail, SMS, fax and email, in accordance with applicable marketing laws, such as the Australian Spam Act 2003 (Cth). I you indicate a preference for a method of communication, we will endeavour to use that method whenever practical to do so.


You may opt-out of receiving marketing communications from use by following the instructions to “unsubscribe” set out in the relevant communication.


Included but not limited to the following types of direct marketing:

  • Notifying you about Stiletto Homes new or existing products, services and activities (if you have requested this).


In addition, we may also use your personal information or disclose your personal information to third parties for the purposes of advertising, including online behavioural advertising, website personalisation, and to provide targeted or retargeted advertising content to you (including through third party websites).

Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Most of the Personal Information is or will be stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.


Stiletto Homes takes reasonable steps to protect the Personal Information that it collects from you against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction, or against access by unauthorized persons, misuse, interference, loss, unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure. By using our website, however, you acknowledge and accept the risk that the website may contain hyperlinks to websites owned, operated, and/or maintained by independent third parties. Stiletto Homes has no control over the privacy practices or the content of any such websites linked to this website; we can only inform individuals of the types of organizations to whom we disclose privacy information.


Maintaining the Quality of your Personal Information

Stiletto Homes relies on accurate and reliable information to deliver quality and effective services. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up-to-date. If we are satisfied that any of the information we have about you is inaccurate, out-of-date, irrelevant, incomplete, or misleading, or you request we correct any information, we will take steps that are reasonable in the circumstance to ensure the information held by us is accurate, up-to-date, complete, relevant, and not misleading.


Should we refuse to correct the information, we will explain the reasons for refusal. If we disclose your privacy information that is later corrected, we will, or else you may ask us to, notify the entity that received the incorrect information about that correction.


Amendments to this Policy

Stiletto Homes reserves the right to amend this policy at any time, and such amendments will be posted to this website. Stiletto Homes may, at its discretion, communicate amendments to this policy to you by email or mail. In most circumstances, basic amendments to our policy will not require your consent. However, if the amendments alter part of our Policy that renders Stiletto Homes obliged to obtain your consent, we will notify you of the amendments and communicate that your acceptance of our email indicates implied consent unless you communicate to us that you do not consent to the amendments.
